No Place Like A 3D Printed Home

The additive manufacturing process has achieved regulatory approval for use in residential construction. The process of making concrete printed homes uses very large 3D printers. These printer controls the characteristics and directions of the concrete flow as it enters or exits the extrusion pipe (nozzle). It is frequently used to modify or direct the printable concrete material.

The concrete material is laid down layer by layer to fabricate the building element needed for the printed concrete construction. Although the process is sometimes referred to as concrete 3D printing, the builder might not always use concrete in the strictest sense. That’s because traditional concrete is probably not the best choice for 3D printing: this material would clog the printer’s nozzle and wouldn’t properly adhere to the layers previously extruded in the process. Many materials used to create concrete printed homes are unique. Some of the materials are patented. That’s why selecting the right materials in building the 3D printed house is as important as the design and printer.

Today’s concrete-printed homes are built to withstand the elements as climate change continues.

The advantage of 3D printing concrete is that it provides exceptional design freedom, e.g. the ability to construct curved structures without the need for supports. Contractors have seen the market for concrete printed homes construction explode over the past five years.

That’s because these homes are a cheaper and more efficient alternative for people in search of attractive, functional housing.  Printable concrete is design-friendly: it isn’t “concrete block design.” Pleasing arcs and curves are possible with the technology.  While this technology might seem overwhelming, it’s important to remember that additive manufacturing is here to stay.

Builders note that people are concerned about climate change. They don’t want to invest in building methods that worsen its effects. The adaptive technology used to build 3D printed homes does so without the release of too much carbon into the earth’s atmosphere.

Instead of building a home with conventional materials like lumber, steel, or aluminum, the 3D printed home is built using robotics. The cement-like mixture used is squeezed out of the printer nozzle and delivered layer by layer to the design. It looks a little like a soft-serve ice cream machine.

The process of 3D printing a home uses almost identical additive manufacturing processes used to “print” many other things—from parts of an airplane to dental implants—but a much larger printer is used for the purpose.

Additive manufacturing is a new frontier that has been opened for construction projects around the world. This technology might seem intimidating at first, but it’s important to remember that it allows us to create anything we can imagine and dream o

OUR Work

Case Studies are conducted by our team

As labor and materials shortages tighten construction budgets and squeeze margins, concrete printed homes are revolutionizing construction markets.

Our Prices

Choose a plan that
fits your requirements

After years of research and development, the additive manufacturing market is focused to build more concrete printed homes:

• Construction budgets are tight.

• Labor shortages are real.

• Home prices continue to rise.

• The available supply of homes is low. We print homes now.

United Robotic Systems prints homes on the builder’s site using a proprietary construction system to lay down the new home’s walls in layers. Our proprietary cement mix uses advanced materials and additives to create the structural integrity of the home. Each home is designed for energy efficiency and to withstand the stress of extreme weather and/or earthquakes.

What our customer
say about us

Printing walls for a new home reduces the builder’s reliance on the supply chain. This speeds the process of building the home as it saves money and resources. The result is a more affordable home.

“The quality of structure is better than expected and I haven't tried using the high quality function yet. I am just getting started.”
Ann Black
Engineer
"I just printed my first item and I am very impressed. The instructions we pretty simple to follow but it does take some trial and error."
Jose Reed

It certainly helps to be used to working with your hands. I already use CAD/CAM software and I have been able to export my drawings directly to the software.”
Michael Colt

This is a spectacular machine. If you've never owned a 3d printer before some aspects might be intimidating but as exceptional
Jessica Doe

Supply chain challenges in today’s world are also a consideration. Three-D printed housing adds value to the traditional home building process by reducing or eliminating commonly-used materials. A standard home wall may require plates, wood, barriers, screws, drywall, tape, insulation, and many other materials.

By avoiding traditional construction materials (and the current levels of price and availability volatility associated with them), the home building process is less impacted by global supply chain issues and shipping times.
